Take a walk with me

Take a walk with me

A Sunday stroll in Cap d’Antibes.

I never get tired of walking around the Cap, no matter what time of year it is. Unfortunately my family don’t feel the same so I am generally walking alone (sad face). On the bright side I have my camera to keep me company and honestly there is always something beautiful photograph. The views never get boring.

On this particular Sunday I decided that I would spend the entire day wandering around the Cap to get rid of the cobwebs from the previous late night.

I started my walk in the backstreets behind Plage de la Salis.

Then I walked along the beachfront around the Cap towards Plage de la Garoupe. The weather has been very unpredictable so far this year but today was a beautiful sunny and warm day. The beach was packed and there were people everywhere along the coast road, the place had suddenly sprung to life.

After popping home for some water and a quick sandwich I walked the Sentier du Littoral before continuing down to the lovely Port de l’Olivette.  I passed the famous Hotel du Cap before continuing the circle back around to Salis.

If you love walking like me I highly recommend packing a picnic and exploring the Cap until you can’t walk anymore. There really is so much to see that even after ten years of living here I am still discovering new places. Every time I think I must have photographed everything I spot something I haven’t seen before. That’s why I love it so much here. No two days are ever the same.

What I also love is how differnt the three sides of Cap d’Antibes  are. You have the Salis side with it’s many holiday apartments and wide sandy beaches and snack bars. This is often the busiest side as it is easily reached from Antibes on foot. Then you have the rugged and wild Coastal path (sentier du Littoral). Asides from the walkers many locals come here to escape the crowds. This is also where the youth hang out with friends and jump from the rocks below the Villa Eilen Roc into Billionaires Bay. Finally there is the Juan Les Pins side, my favourite side. On this side the beaches are smaller but, to me, much more beautiful and also the water is often cleaner.  Each area has something unique to offer and only you can decide which bit is your favourite.

If you decide to explore the Cap then, at the end of the walk, you can treat yourself to a sun downer either on the beach or maybe at the Hotel Belles Rives depending on your budget.

Maps of Cap d’Antibes are available from the Tourist office either in Antibes or Juan Les Pins.
